Why do we use the red 660 nm lights?

About ten years later at the University of   Chicago, researchers discovered that the average wavelength of cell tissue in the human body ranged between 600 nanometers and 720 nm; 660 is the mid-point. So in essence, the reason a 660 nm works better than any other single frequency is because it is closer to the resonant frequency of cell tissue. The other reason is that 660 nm absorbs better in hemoglobin.

As you move toward the red end of the spectrum, the rate of cellular regeneration increased. For instance, a single frequency in the green range might affect the kidney 40 times better than a normal base-line study, whereas a red would be about 4,000 times faster.

So over the years they migrated to infrared, red and eventually the 660 nanometer wavelength because it was the fastest way to regenerate tissue. So if you have an injury you would normally recover from in ten days, you can actually recover that tissue in two days by treating it with light.

Irradiating mitochondria with red and infrared light causes them to produce cytochromes, which increases their efficiency.

What does the number 660nm mean?

The 660 signifies wavelength, the nm designates nanometers which is measurement of length, so 660nm would mean the distance between the light waves is 660 nanometers. It is also a way to specifically exactly state a color.
660 is deep Red
635 is a more orangish red, most common red color
590nm is yellow
520nm is green
470nm is blue
400nm is violet

What do the different colors do?
Infrared 880:  Stimulates production of nitric oxide in blood which open up the capillaries thus increasing the blood flow, also the most deeply penetrating.
Red 660: Speeds up healing and increases production of ATP in the cells, which is their energy source.
Yellow 590:  Stimulate collagen production to helps with wrinkles, recently found out the red does it too.
Blue 470:  Works on Bacteria, MRSA, Jaundice and inflammation to some degree.

What is the power output of my LEDs?

I had my main LEDs tested by a man with a device that measures them directly. Here are the results.
For calculation there are 4 LEDs in a square centimeter, multiply the below figures by 4 to get the  mw per cm2 rating.
